Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)

The Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) provides for a select number of UNO students the opportunity to be paid a competitive salary by the Department of the Navy while continuing to work towards a degree at the University. Graduates of the program have the potential for a noncompetitive conversion into the Federal career service. Students selected into the program will work at the SPAWAR Atlantic New Orleans Office in the Research and Technology Park on the UNO campus.

Student Eligibility:

  • At least 16 years old
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Meet DoN policy on nepotism
  • Meet security fitness requirements
  • Be enrolled in at least a half-time academic load

Work/Benefits Information:

  • Paid in accordance with established pay schedules
  • Benefits for which students may be eligible include retirement, life/health insurance, vacation/sick/holiday leave and promotions/awards
  • Work 20 to 40 hours per week
  • College of Business majors may be able to receive academic credit for this program.
