Scott Whittenburg holds a B.S. from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Utah. A Research Professor of Chemistry and Fellow of the Advanced Materials Research Institute he continues to conduct research in micromagnetic modeling and now serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness. He has over 60 publications in refereed journals and has nearly $4M in research funding. His recent research involves computer simulations or modeling of magnetic nanomaterials. Dr. Whittenburg is the Department of Defense (DoD) representative to the Louisiana EPSCoR committee and serves on a subcommittee of the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI). As Associate Vice Chancellor he oversees University Computing and Communications (UCC) which recently accepted a P5 supercomputer from IBM and will soon receive a supercomputer from Dell. As head of assessment on campus he oversees Data Management, Analysis and Reporting (DMAR) as well as various committees involved in learning outcomes assessment for SACS accreditation. He also oversees the Learning Resource Center (LRC) which is vital to enhancing learning at UNO.
